Well known and popular garden palm from northwestern Mexico, where it grows in dry rocky soils and sometimes on cliff faces. Its most distinctive characteristics is its big fan shaped silvery blue leaves.

Description
It grows quite tall and can reach 50 feet in hot climates with thick bar trunk. The leaf petioles are lined with thorns, and the fruits, which form on long inflorescences that arch out way beyond the leaves, are yellow to dark brown when ripe.
